WBFS (Wii Backup File System) is a file system that is not recognized by any computer OS. So if you want to add ISO files that are on your computer to your drive, you have to use a WBFS manager. Some features most WBFS managers have:

  • Copy ISO from or to PC
  • Copy ISO files from drive to drive
  • Copy or create cISO files

You can also use a development build of Dolphin, right click on a game, and use “Convert File” to convert it. If you are not copying games using Wii Backup Manager, Witgui, or Wii Backup Fusion, make a folder on the root of the USB drive or SD card named “wbfs” and put the games in there. The Wii has only 512MB of internal memory. Even if you managed to convert a Wii game into a WAD, you most likely wouldn't be able to install it, as most Wii games are bigger then that. It's just not practical. Wii Backup Manager is an excellent program that can manage FAT32, NTFS and WBFS drives and convert between ISO, CISO, and WBFS files. The guide below will show you how to add ISO images to your FAT32 drive. The program splits your ISO images into 4GB parts when transferring to a FAT32 drive as that is the maximum size.
